The injured daughter, whom police say had special needs due to a traumatic brain injury, was taken to the hospital with two gunshot wounds to her arm. Her father was also hospitalized, and both are expected to survive.
Court documents state that just 20 minutes before the home break-in, an Uber driver reported that five men with tattoos tried to get into his sedan. The driver told the group that he couldn’t fit all of them inside his vehicle, which led to an argument. Police say the driver told them to get out of his car, but was struck in the head with a firearm by one of the men.
Nunez and Martinez were indicted on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary. Martinez also faces a charge of misconduct involving weapons.
