On Tuesday, June 16, the National Park Service said a paramotor (a powered paraglider) crashed this weekend, and crews recovered the pilot’s body. The cause is under investigation, and the person’s name has not been released.

Also on Tuesday, the NPS said crews have completely contained the Box Fire, and there has been minimal fire behavior and no growth.

“Infrared flights on Monday and Tuesday afternoon showed very little heat inside the burn area,“ the NPS said in a release. ”The fire will continue to be monitored, and resources will be released to assist with other wildland fire response as needed.“

The Southeast Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team is set to transfer command of the fire back to Saguaro National Park on Wednesday morning.
