First responders were called to the area of 124th Drive and Hummingbird Terrace, near Vistancia Boulevard and Ridgeline Road, around 5:30 a.m. Officers arrived and found Jackson Berry, 31, who had been shot multiple times and stabbed.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses said they woke up to two loud sets of gunfire.
“Then a little bit of yelling right after that, and then seven. Seven gunshots right in a row,” said Rachel Rampton.“I grabbed my gun, went out back and saw the body, ran back in here, told my daughter call 911 and then went back out,” said Brandon Rampton, a neighbor.
The suspect then drove off in a black Chevrolet Malibu, police said.
Peoria police said its Real Time Crime Center tracked the killer as he drove toward Payson.
Payson police then tried to pull him over but the suspect kept driving, officials said.
