CHINO HILLS, Calif. (Gray News) — A suspected kidnapper was shot and killed by police after he killed a victim who was in the trunk of his car, officials said.

Aerial video showed the scene in southern California where one body was seen on the ground covered in a sheet and the other was still in the trunk of the suspect’s vehicle.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the situation started Wednesday when deputies received calls about someone being shot and put into the trunk of a car.
Deputies followed the suspect vehicle and pulled it over before ordering the driver and a passenger to come out.
Police said when the driver exited the car, he opened the trunk and fired at the person inside.

The driver then shot at deputies, who returned fire and killed him.
The passenger came out of the vehicle with his hands up and was taken into custody.
No deputies were injured.
Police are working to determine a motive and have not released the names of any of the people involved.
According to KABC, the person in the trunk was a man in his 60s. The suspected kidnapper and his passenger are also in their 60s.
