BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — Students and staff are safe after a reported bomb threat sparked an evacuation at a Buckeye school Tuesday morning.

Buckeye police say around 9 a.m., a person called Great Hearts Roosevelt, located near Jackrabbit Trail and Van Buren Street, and made comments about a bomb at the school.
The school was immediately evacuated following the call.
“I just got a call at work saying that there was a bomb threat at our school and very, very worried about my kids,” said Anthony Lisi, a parent.
Yellow school buses lined the campus as officers evacuated students and began a full sweep. Because of the extreme heat, students were bused less than two miles away to Blue Horizon Elementary, near Verrado Way and Yuma Road.
“As a parent, it’s so, it really can happen to me, which I think is kind of the most surreal part and just eye-opening to never take any day for granted,” Lisi said.
“It’s scary. It gets your heart rate going because you don’t really know what’s going on,” said Jenny Galindo, a parent.
Families say it was the response from the school and police that kept them grounded.

“I wasn’t sure how it would be just with how the school is set up and there isn’t any school bus service for these schools, but they’ve got a plan in place and they executed. I think they did wonderful,” Galindo said.
“We’re at the liberty of the school and the notification system to let us know where we’re supposed to go to pick up our kids. So it’s just a very stressful waiting game,” said Allison Clausen, aunt of a student.
Officials confirm all students and staff are safe, and no threat was found.
Outside of Blue Horizon Elementary, families reunited with their kids.
“I felt like safe and I loved it because that like, oh, like I’m safe and my dad’s fine. I’m fine. We made it out alive,” a student said.
Classes have been canceled for the day and will resume on Wednesday.
Arizona’s Family drone captured video of numerous fire trucks and ambulances parked outside of the school. Groups of kids were also seen being loaded onto school buses.
