GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A higher reward is being offered for information in the unsolved murder of a 19-year-old Gilbert woman four years ago.

Rachel Hansen was shot and killed in 2022 by an intruder who broke into her Gilbert apartment.
On Tuesday, the Gilbert Police Department shared that the reward for any information that could lead to an arrest or indictment of a suspect in Hansen’s murder has been raised to $25,000.
“Rachel and her family deserve justice. Critical information may still be unreported,” the department said in a Facebook post.
“Even details that appeared minor or insignificant at the time could prove essential in identifying those responsible for Rachel’s death and ensuring they are held accountable,” police added.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Any tips can also be submitted anonymously at silentwitness.org or by calling 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.

Hansen called 911 the morning of June 4, 2022, to say that she had been shot by someone who broke into her apartment near Santan Village Parkway and Coronado Road. Police rushed her to a hospital, where she died shortly after.
Her family in June pushed the Gilbert police to bring in additional resources, including reaching out to the FBI, to help solve the case. Hansen was a horse trainer, and her family started an animal rescue called Rachel’s Rescue in her honor.
