TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A person and a dog were found dead after a house fire in Pima County late Sunday, Aug. 30.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it happened in the 15000 block of South Connor Place near Mescal.
The PCSD said Mescal and Benson fire crews worked for hours to extinguish the blaze, but the home sustained serious damage, including a collapsed roof.
Arson detectives located human and canine remains in the home.
The person has not been identified, and the remains were transported to the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy and identification.
While the investigation is ongoing, there is nothing suspicious noted yet.
It was the second fatal house fire in southern Arizona in less than a week.
On Aug. 26, a resident and two dogs died in a house fire near First and Prince in Tucson.

The Tucson Fire Department said one person was pulled from the home and taken to a local hospital, but that person later died from their injuries. Two dogs were found in the home, and they did not survive.
