PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An erratic man accused of barricading himself inside a south Phoenix home after a shooting was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

It started when police responded to multiple reports of a shooting between two men at a park near 23rd Avenue and Baseline Road.
Officers said one of the men, identified as 35-year-old Jose Villalobos, was acting erratically inside a nearby business while armed with a handgun.
Villalobos then ran through several yards and forced his way into a nearby home, police said.
Family describes suspects breaking into home
Family members of the homeowners told Arizona’s Family that Villalobos was one of two gunmen who broke into their home after the shootout.
They said they frantically called 911 when the two men, unknown to them, broke in. The people inside the home at the time escaped safely.
One of the shooters got away, while Villalobos caused a standoff that lasted about an hour and a half.
Nephew describes call from aunt inside the home
The homeowners’ 16-year-old nephew described a phone call he received from his aunt, who was inside the home during the standoff.

“One man jumped the fence and started just knocking on windows, like banging on windows and everything, and he managed to break one of them,” Anthony Estrada said. “And as soon as he broke one of them, he managed to get inside the house. And while my aunt was there with my other uncle, the guy in the black shirt held my aunt hostage at gunpoint.”
There was a large police presence in the neighborhood that included SWAT members and undercover police vehicles. Villalobos was eventually placed in handcuffs.

Police say Villalobos was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained while breaking a glass door. After treatment, he will be booked on multiple felony charges, including robbery.
The second suspect has not yet been publicly identified.
