TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Two people were found dead in the Pearce area on Thursday, Sept. 3, but authorities said it appears they are not connected.

A man was hit and killed while walking on SR 181, and a 58-year-old woman was found dead in the front yard of her home on Shepherd Hills Road.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the woman’s death while Arizona DPS is investigating the fatal hit-and-run accident involving the pedestrian.
The CCSO said that at this time, the two investigations are being handled separately.

“Both the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating these separate incidents and are working to establish exactly what occurred,” said Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels. “At this stage, we have more questions than answers. Please give our investigators the time and opportunity to conduct their work. We understand there may be speculation or questions within the community, but it is important that we rely on confirmed facts rather than assumptions or rumors. As information is verified and can be appropriately released, we will provide additional information to the public.”
