DOUGLAS, AZ(AZFamily) — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake shook the Douglas area early Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake hit at 2:57 a.m., with its epicenter located about 19 miles from Douglas and roughly 30 miles east-southeast of Agua Prieta, Mexico. The USGS recorded the earthquake at a depth of about 10 miles (16.4 kilometers).
Residents in Douglas likely felt weak to light shaking. The USGS measured intensity levels between MMI 2.5 and MMI 3, a range typically felt indoors, especially by people at rest, but not strong enough to cause damage.
Sierra Vista, about 58 miles northwest of the epicenter, also fell within the tremor’s reach, though shaking there was barely perceptible. Intensity levels registered between MMI 1 and MMI 1.5, a range generally only detectable by instruments and not felt by most people.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they did not receive any reports of damage or injuries from the earthquake.
