TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – In the latest episode of KOLD’s Bring a Friend podcast, host of the week Brooke Wagner speaks with Pima County Recorder Gabriella Cázares-Kelly to address voter concerns and clarify election procedures across southern Arizona.

Despite national debate surrounding mail-in voting and proposed federal postal changes, Cázares-Kelly emphasized that early voting protocols remain “business as usual” this election cycle. A federal court injunction has paused proposed rule changes through the U.S. Postal Service, including a proposed voter data portal, ensuring that Pima County’s established mail-in voting procedures remain fully intact.
To handle approximately half a million ballots heading to local voters, the Recorder’s Office works in daily coordination with the USPS, which treats election mail as high priority with strict chain-of-custody measures. Cázares-Kelly urges voters to return their ballots as soon as they receive them.
For added convenience, voters dropping off their mail-in ballots at early voting sites or Election Day vote centers can now show valid identification to staff, stamping the affidavit and bypassing the standard signature verification backlog to speed up processing.
Residents can verify their registration, track ballot progress, and view customized voter information by visiting the voter dashboard at recorder.pima.gov.

Addressing security and safety, Cázares-Kelly noted that her office has partnered with local law enforcement, emergency management, and federal agencies to prepare contingency plans for any potential disruptions or interference.
Ballots are consistently handled by bipartisan teams to maintain transparency and election integrity.
With high demand for temporary election staff, the Recorder’s Office and the Elections Department are actively hiring community members to work during the voting period.
