TONOPAH, AZ (AZFamily) — Several faculty members of Tonopah Valley High School are on administrative leave amid an investigation into a “potentially serious incident” involving the football team, according to Saddle Mountain Unified School District.

District leaders said they “initiated a thorough investigation” late Friday after receiving reports of the incident involving Tonopah Valley faculty and high school football team members at football camp in Williams.
The investigation involves allegations of “dry humping,” according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office confirmed to Arizona’s Family that no victims are willing to press charges. The sheriff’s office did not provide any additional details.”
The district canceled the school’s varsity football game Friday and the junior varsity game Monday.
“We remain committed to transparency, but because this is an active matter involving students and personnel, we cannot provide additional details at this time,” Mike Winters, the district’s superintendent, said in a statement provided to Arizona’s Family.

Winters said it is unclear if or when the football season will resume. “As soon as we come to a decision, we will communicate with families,” Winters said. “I hope we can resume.”
He added that “student safety and well-being remain the highest priorities of Saddle Mountain Unified School District.”
Parents and families have been notified, the district said.
