MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A family is displaced after their roof collapsed during a house fire in Mesa Saturday, according to officials with the city’s fire department.
The fire started outside of a home near Broadway Road and Val Vista Drive and then spread to the attic, officials said. One person is being treated for smoke inhalation. Two dogs and a cat were reported safe in the fire.
Several surrounding homes were evacuated due to the fire, Mesa police officials said.

Officials did not say exactly how many people were displaced.
The cause of the fire is not known.
