Man arrested after person shot inside Mesa Target

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A suspect is in custody after a shooting inside of a Mesa store sent one person to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. inside the Target near Power Road and Hampton Avenue.

Details remain limited at this time, but police say the shooting occurred between the suspect, 21-year-old Dylan Stinson, and another person. The victim was shot, but conscious and breathing when they were taken to the hospital.

In an update on Monday, police said the victim remains in critical but stable condition.

Stinson and a second person were initially taken into custody, but police say the second person has since been released. Stinson was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault resulting in serious injury and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Investigators confirmed that the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

The store was closed Sunday night as detectives investigated the scene.
