PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona fugitive wanted for nearly two decades on charges of child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor was caught in Texas.

Jesse Rodriguez, 82, now awaits extradition to Arizona to face the felony charges, a Texas county constable’s office said in a press release Wednesday.
On Aug. 12, Rodriguez, who was going by the name Jesus Ruben Rodriguez, was pulled over for a traffic violation by a Bexar County deputy constable.
After running Rodriguez’s ID, the deputy got a possible match for a wanted person from Maricopa County for the two felonies. But the Arizona information didn’t fully match Rodriguez’s driver’s license and Social Security number he provided.
The deputy questioned Rodriguez, who said that he lived in an Arizona trailer park. He, however, denied being involved in any criminal activity.
But because Arizona authorities were unable to confirm his identity at the time, Rodriguez was let go with a written warning.

After further investigation, the Bexar County deputy later confirmed, with information provided by Maricopa County officials, that Rodriguez was the wanted man.
On Sept. 4, Bexar County deputies arrested Rodriguez, who admitted his real name, according to the constable’s office. He also admitted he knew about the warrant for his arrest and that he had been a fugitive for almost 20 years, the Texas officials said.
Rodriguez is being held in Bexar County Jail.
