TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Marana High student was found dead on campus, leading to classes being canceled on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Marana Police Department said it appears the student broke into the school around 1:30 a.m. and was found dead by two staff members around 6:40 a.m.
The MPD said there was no one else involved, and there was no danger to the public.
The Marana Unified School District said classes would resume on Wednesday, and resources would be available for students and staff.
“We are heartbroken, and we know this news has landed as a profound shock to our entire community,” the district said. “We recognize that this may be difficult for members of our school community. Support will be available for students and staff members as our school community responds to this loss.”
13 News has asked the district if the student tripped a security alarm while breaking onto campus, but we have not heard back as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
While neither the MPD nor MUSD said how the student died, the district advised parents to keep an eye on their children.

Dear Marana High School families and staff,
We are writing to follow up on today’s campus closure. As shared by the Marana Police Department and local news media, a Marana High School student was found deceased on campus early this morning. Two staff members discovered the student. We are heartbroken, and we know this news has landed as a profound shock to our entire community. We recognize that this may be difficult for members of our school community. Support will be available for students and staff members as our school community responds to this loss.
This afternoon, Marana High School & MUSD Administration, the MUSD Crisis Response Team and the Marana Police Department met with Marana High School staff in an all-staff meeting to share this information. The district crisis response team will be on campus again tomorrow to support both students and staff, and will remain available in the days ahead for anyone who needs them.
