PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A motorcyclist is dead after police say he ran a red light before being struck by another vehicle in northern Phoenix early Sunday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., first responders were called to a crash involving a motorcyclist and another vehicle on Cactus Road at its intersection with the on-off ramp for State Route 51.
Authorities arrived and found the motorcyclist, identified as 55-year-old Andre Grant, seriously injured, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police say the other driver involved stayed at the scene and did not appear to be impaired.

Investigators believe Grant was riding eastbound on Cactus Road and ran a red light at the intersection when the other driver was making a left turn on a green arrow to enter the freeway.
The investigation is ongoing.
