TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Tucson Police Department says a man was killed in a crash near Valencia and Midvale Park Road early Sunday morning, September 6.

The TPD says the crash happened about 3:45 a.m.
Police say 52-year-old Ira Jesus Chavez was speeding when he rear ended another vehicle.
After the crash, police say Chavez’s vehicle continued across several lanes before hitting a power pole.
Chavez died at the scene.
The TPD says detectives found evidence of alcohol consumption inside his vehicle and determined Chavez was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was determined to not be intoxicated.
