PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix Police Department is mourning the loss of an officer who passed away this week while off-duty.

Police say Sgt. James Lukash suffered a medical event at his home and died later at a hospital.

Sgt. Lukash was a 22-year veteran of Phoenix PD who was assigned to the Violent Crimes Bureau.

“Rest in peace, Sgt. Lukash, you will be dearly missed,” the department wrote in a social media post.
