The 8th annual Sonoran Restaurant Week kicked off today, highlighting more than 120 locally owned restaurants throughout Tucson and the surrounding communities. Participating establishments are offering curated, fixed-price menus and exclusive, limited-time dishes to showcase the region’s unique flavors.

Among the local businesses featured this year is Kneller’s Delicatessen, located on E. Speedway Boulevard. Opened just a year and a half ago, the deli relies on locally sourced ingredients to scratch-make its own bread, baked goods, and salsas in-house. They even have gluten free options.

Owner Jeremy Kneller-Hernandez describes the business as an authentic Jewish deli that brings a taste of classic East Coast ingredients directly to Southern Arizona.

“It means a lot. It’s got my family on the wall,” Kneller-Hernandez said. “They’re old-school, East Coast recipes from my grandma, great-grandma, and I’m trying to bring that East Coast nostalgia to the desert.”

During Sonoran Restaurant Week, Kneller’s is offering a special three-course menu, highlighted by tender pastrami cabeza tacos made with a three-week brined cabeza.

Further east on Speedway Boulevard, Miramonte is also celebrating its first year in business. Boasting a modern, aesthetic atmosphere perfect for a night out, the contemporary American restaurant has put together a special course menu for the occasion.

“We’ve prepared a three-course menu here at Miramonte and at our other two restaurants,” said co-owner Nick Kreutz. “Today, we have three appetizers to choose from, three entrees to choose from, and two desserts.”

The event also features plenty of options for early risers. Yellow Brick Coffee House is offering a special two-item morning menu, featuring a cold brew coffee infused with local honey and a Sonoran breakfast sandwich.

Co-owner David Perreira believes Sonoran Restaurant Week is a vital platform for Tucson’s independent coffee shops and cafes to gain exposure.

“It’s just special to be represented in a local community where there are a lot of great restaurants in town,” Perreira said. “So, it’s a way of being heard and kind of gathering a community in our spaces.”

Over on the east side, Zio Peppe—a true scratch kitchen known for its creative American Italian fusion cuisine—has curated an exclusive two-course meal featuring specialty appetizers and main dish.

“When people come and try us for the first time, we just hope they appreciate the love and the effort put into the food,” said co-chef and co-owner Mathew Cable. “I think we have a really unique combination of flavors that you really don’t find anywhere else.”

Sonoran Restaurant Week runs for 10 days, offering diners a budget-friendly opportunity to explore new local eateries and support Tucson’s thriving culinary industry. In addition to fixed-price menus, special dining events will be hosted daily across the city.
