CEDAR HILL, Texas (Gray News) — An armed customer at a bank in Texas shot and killed an attempted robber, police said.

According to the Cedar Hill Police Department, the shooting happened Monday morning at a Chase Bank.
Officers were called to the bank just after 9 a.m. regarding a robbery in progress.
Police said a man, armed with a knife, came into the bank and demanded money from employees.

A customer, armed with a gun, witnessed the attempted robbery and fired their weapon at the suspect.
The suspect was shot but able to run from the bank until he collapsed nearby. Responding officers attempted CPR, but the man died at the hospital.
The customer who fired their gun remained on the scene and is cooperating with authorities, police said.

Police said no bank employees, customers or officers were injured.
The Dallas office of the FBI is joining the investigation.
