Unfortunately, that means more expensive bills, but you may qualify to get help through a new state program called Power AZ.
Earlier this year, Gov. Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Department of Economic Security announced $15 million would be available to certain Arizonans who qualify. That includes middle-income families specifically. To qualify, you have to make $4,890 a month for a single person, and for a family of four, it’s $9,400 a month.
You can get up to $640 a year, but it’s important to keep in mind the funds may expire by the end of September.
“There’s not a lot of programs available for our middle-income class families,” said Danielle Evans with Arizona Public Service (APS). “So, this is a really important assistance program out there. Many customers don’t know that they actually do qualify for assistance.”

If you need help paying your bill, Evans suggests reaching out to APS to see what your options are.
It’s unclear how much money is still available, but Arizona’s Family will be reaching out to officials.
