Shortly after midnight, neighbors on Mount Gilead Road woke up to someone banging on their door, breaking a glass window and trying to enter the home.
“They stopped him and tried to figure out what he wanted. He believed that he was being chased so that he needed to come inside,” said Calhoun County Deputy Chief William Moses.
Neighbors called 911. Deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office arrived to what Moses said was an unusual scene.
“He had stripped himself of his clothes, and he had his dog with him, and he was swimming in their pool,” Moses described. “He was telling us that he was concerned for himself and for his dog. Someone was trying to get his dog; someone was trying to get him. Why he disrobed and why he was swimming; he did not explain.”

After deputies removed him from the pool, they determined the man, Timothy Dodd, lived nearby. The owners of the home knew who he was. Moses said they are trying to determine if this was a case of someone dealing with a mental health issue.
“We don’t know if it was drugs or if he may have had something else going on with him, but from what we understand it wasn’t typical behavior,” Moses said.
Dodd faces second-degree robbery and public lewdness charges. He has been released from the Calhoun County Jail along with his dog.
