TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Body cam footage has been released in the arrest of 17-year-old Ryan Duran, a Tucson teen involved in an armed carjacking and high-speed chase that ended in an officer-involved shooting.

Duran was arrested following the June 30 incident but didn’t appear in court until a month later due to the injuries he suffered.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Duran crashed a stolen car, was shot by one officer, and another officer hit him with his vehicle.

Officer-involved shooting
According to the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team, officers responded to a carjacking near Broadway and Camino Seco around 11:30 p.m. on June 30.
The PRCIT said Duran held a victim at gunpoint and stole a vehicle.
At 11:45 p.m., TPD officers located Duran using a license plate reader search and learned that he had fled to the area of South 6th Avenue and West 44th Street.
According to the PRCIT, the officers initiated a traffic stop, but Duran fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers chased Duran westbound on Ajo Way toward the Interstate 19 overpass, where he crashed the stolen vehicle and ran away with a gun.
The PCRIT said Officer Eli Miller fired his gun after Duran ignored demands to drop his weapon and continued to run in the roadway across traffic.
Duran was brought to the ground after TPD Officer Matthew Merz struck him with his patrol car.

According to the PCRIT, the officer who fired his gun shot additional rounds at Duran.
Duran was immediately taken into custody and received medical attention for his injuries.
Following shooting and arrest
Duran was treated for his injuries for a month before he was transferred to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex.
Duran is facing charges of armed robbery, vehicle theft, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage, weapons misconduct, and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
During his initial court appearance late Friday, July 31, the judge set bond at $250,000.
The judge said he set the bond that high due to the serious and violent nature of the allegations as well as the fact Duran was on intensive juvenile probation.
According to court documents, Duran had a GPS ankle monitor on at the time of the carjacking, which helped law enforcement track him down.
A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
