LINCOLNTON, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) – A woman was stabbed with a pitchfork at a house last week, authorities in North Carolina said.

The stabbing happened during the evening of July 20 at a home on Laboratory Road near Massapoag Road in Lincolnton.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at the house and found a woman with several stab wounds from a pitchfork.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Deputies alleged that the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Andrew Tompkins, fled after the stabbing.

Tompkins was arrested the next day and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Tompkins was taken to the Lincoln County Jail and was initially denied bond before it was set at $30,000.
As of Tuesday, Tompkins remained in jail and is scheduled to be back in court Aug. 11.
