YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — It may get a little loud in northeast Yuma Wednesday morning, but officials say people should not be worried.

Bureau of Reclamation’s Yuma-area office, which is near Somerton Avenue and Eighth Street, will conduct a test of its chemical release alarm and mass-notification system between 8 a.m. and noon.
The sirens will sound multiple times, sometimes lasting up to 20 minutes.
The alarms are designed to alert workers and nearby residents during an accidental chemical release involving chlorine storage for desalination operations.
Officials say the sirens may be heard several miles away from the facility, but no action is needed during the scheduled test.

The Yuma area office conducts these tests regularly.
