TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Brett Newby, candidate for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, joined Devyn Shea on Tucson Now to tell viewers why he deserves their vote.

Newby describes himself as “a dad, a coach, a clinician” and says the experience of running his first campaign is a “rollercoaster”.
Newby is looking to instill stricter guardrails, transparency, and accountability to ESA’s, stating he believes the “entire funding formula for schools here in Arizona needs a revamp”.
The reallocation of educational funding also includes statewide all-day kindergarten.

Newby’s platform of school safety highlights “psychological safety”- a term he describes as “feeling safe to be who you are”.
Newby says his decisions would be through the lens of students today and what is “beneficial for the next several generations of kids”.
