TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Emergency crews recovered a woman’s body from Sabino Canyon on Tuesday, June 30.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said deputies and Rural Metro responded to the Bear Canyon Trail after a 911 hang-up around 7:30 a.m.
Deputies determined a hiker called 911 after locating a woman’s body around 1 1/2 miles from the trailhead.
The PCSD said the 66-year-old woman’s family has not been notified as of July 7, but said she is not a U.S. citizen.
The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

It was the second hiker death the PCSD responded to in a week. On June 23, 75-year-old Robin Janes died on the Brown Mountain hiking trail.
