TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal motorcycle crash near the intersection of South Cardinal Avenue and West Valencia Road on July 5.

The PCSD said a motorcycle was traveling westbound on Valencia Road when it hit a truck that was making a left turn.
Both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle were taken to the hospital. The passenger sustained serious injuries, and the driver, 34-year-old Alejandro Daniel Ruiz Leon, died.

The PCSD said Leon was not wearing a helmet, but the passenger was.
Deputies determined Leon’s speed and impairment were factors in the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing.
