The search resumed Monday, and the Navajo Police Department (Navajo PD) said around 7 p.m. the bodies of the missing men were recovered from the lake.

Navajo PD expressed gratitude to all agencies that helped in the search, including the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, which sent its Lake Patrol Dive Team to assist.

Apache County Emergency Management said it was helping the Navajo Nation Department of Emergency Management and local, tribal, state and federal agencies search for the missing men at Wheatfields Lake, about 26 miles east of Chinle on the Navajo Nation.

The two men, whose names have not been released, went missing Friday after their boat had overturned.

Authorities searched the lake Friday and Saturday, but the operation was suspended Sunday due to lake conditions, officials said.
