PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man suffered serious injuries after being shot early Thursday morning when he answered his door in north-central Phoenix.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. at the Allora Phoenix Apartments near 23rd and Glendale avenues.
Police found that a man answered a knock at his front door and was shot by an unknown man. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, Phoenix police said.
The shooting victim was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police confirmed.
Arizona’s Family talked to several neighbors, and all described the apartment complex as quiet. It’s not gated and the unit where it appears the shooting happened is right when you first walk in.
The people who live there believe this violence is premeditated.
“Honestly, I was shocked,” said Angelica Peraza, a neighbor.
Peraza woke up to a crime scene as she made her husband lunch to send him on his way to work.
Police cars, yellow tape, and detectives took over the Allora Phoenix Apartments.
“Everybody really leaves each other alone. So, that’s why when I walked out this morning, I was really taken back because I was like, what happened?” she said.
Arizona’s Family saw a bullet hole in a wall outside a unit just a few doors down from Peraza.

“I had heard that he got into it with someone somewhere else and they followed him home,” said Peraza. “When he opened the door, they shot him. I guess it was all full of blood over there in the corner.”
Phoenix police did not answer our questions when we asked if this was a targeted attack or random act of violence.
“I mean, it honestly doesn’t worry me that they’ll come do something to us,” Peraza said.
She’s lived at this complex for a few months.
“I honestly really like it. Like, I would renew here. Everybody’s calm,” said Peraza.
While holding her baby girl, she’s hoping her neighbor pulls through.
“It’s sad as a parent to see something happen to your kids, no matter how old they are. At the end of the day, that’s your baby, you know,” she said.
