TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman died while hiking in Pima County on Tuesday, June 23.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 75-year-old Robin Janes was on the Brown Mountain hiking trail when she had a medical issue around 11:40 a.m. She was airlifted to a local hospital, but died.
The PCSD said Janes had been hiking with two family members for several hours before suffering from exhaustion and heat-related illness.
Health experts warn parents about safety amid extreme heat warning
The Picture Rocks Fire Department and Arizona DPS assisted the PCSD’s Parks Enforcement/Search and Rescue Unit.
The PCSD said Janes’ family members did not need medical help.
“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public to exercise extreme caution when hiking during periods of excessive heat,” the PCSD said in a release. “Always carry sufficient water, avoid hiking in the hottest parts of the day, and know your physical limits.”

According to the 13 News First Alert Weather Team, there is an Extreme Heat Warning through Thursday, and we will see highs nearing 111 degrees.
