LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police say officers shot and killed an armed suspect who was shooting at traffic in east Las Vegas.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said witnesses of the incident called in just before 12:30 p.m.
LVMPD’s communications relayed to officers that a man was shooting at traffic near Lake Mead Boulevard and Sloan Lane.

Police did not immediately say what type of firearm the suspect had.

When officers arrived, police said they gave the man commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. He shot toward officers.

Police returned fire and struck the suspect. Officers rendered aid until medical arrived, but he died at the scene.
Police say there are no other officers or citizens injured during this incident. This is the 6th police shooting in LVMPD’s jurisdiction so far this year.
