Trevon Williams stood before a judge Wednesday where he was formally charged with killing Jariah Edwards and critically injuring their newborn daughter. Prosecutors allege Williams got a Lyft from Phoenix to San Diego, tracked down his pregnant girlfriend and shot her outside a vacation rental early Saturday morning.

Williams was also charged with being unlawfully in possession of a machinegun.

Recorded confession

Investigators now have recordings where Williams admits to killing Edwards.

Arizona’s Family obtained one of them where Williams said, “Yo I’m not going to be on the game for years. I just killed my baby mama fool. They’re looking for me right now.”

A second recording was mentioned in court Wednesday, where he said “I shot this ***** in the face. On God, I shot this ***** dead.”

Prosecutors say the recordings were made after the shooting.

Edwards’ friends say she was eight months pregnant. The baby girl is now fighting for her life in the hospital after doctors performed an emergency C-section shortly before Edwards died.

Friends say Jariah’s world revolved around her unborn daughter, a daughter now fighting for her own life.

“The child is in critical condition with minimal brain activity as a result of loss of oxygen the child endured while being inside its dead mother,” the prosecutor said in court.

Prior allegations of violence

Court documents reveal allegations of violence years before Edwards was killed.

According to an Arizona search warrant affidavit from September 2024, a 17-year-old victim identified Williams as her boyfriend after going to a hospital with stab wounds, cuts and bruises.

The victim reported Williams threatened her, saying, “If I have to kick down the door, you’re not going to make it home.”

The affidavit alleges Williams stabbed a bedroom door with a kitchen knife, forced his way inside and beat her with a dog collar. Court records show this happened while an order of protection was already in place.

Edwards’ friends also described troubling behavior in her relationship with Williams.

“She had to be on the phone with him. She was very like quiet and her energy like every time like we went to go hang out with her, like her, like she wasn’t the same person,” a friend said.

In court, prosecutors said Edwards was planning to file a restraining order against Williams before police say he shot and killed her this weekend.

Williams is being held without bond.
