CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — A casino guest is nearly $1.5 million richer after winning big on a slot machine in the East Valley on Sunday night.

A guest at Gila River Resorts & Casinos’ Lone Butte was playing the “Frankenstein” slot machine in the resort’s new Light & Wonder room when the jackpot was triggered on a $15 wager.
The guest won $1,471,464, ranking among the top three jackpots recorded at Gila River Resorts & Casinos, officials said.
“Moments like this are what make what we do so rewarding,” said Blake Katsnelson, chief operations officer at Gila River Resorts & Casinos. “Jackpots of this size change lives, and being part of that is something we never take for granted. This victory serves as the perfect inauguration for the Light & Wonder room, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

The seven-figure win adds to a milestone year for Gila River Resorts & Casinos, where more than $256.8 million in jackpots have been awarded across its four properties in 2026 alone, officials said.
