TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A University of Arizona grad student has been accused of kidnapping, sexual abuse, and sexual assault.

Israel Levi Galindo Aispuro, 27, was arrested Aug. 6 and appeared in court later that night. His bond was set at $15,000, but he was no longer in custody as of Friday afternoon. A preliminary hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 17.
During the hearing late Thursday, the state called it a violent assault, where the suspect locked the victim in his vehicle. The victim, through a representative, asked the court not to release Aispuro due to significant safety concerns and the nature of her injuries.
According to the interim complaint, Aispuro and the victim had been in an on-again, off-again relationship but were not together at the time of the March 31 incident.
The victim said she agreed to meet Aispuro for lunch at a local hospital. They were expected to discuss their situation as Aispuro was in a relationship with someone else.
After lunch, Aispuro offered to give the victim a ride. She said she had to get into the backseat of his vehicle because the front seat was full.
She said as Aispuro was driving, he pulled into a neighborhood. She claims he then joined her in the backseat and locked the doors

She said he started kissing her, and she started to kiss him back but then told him to stop. She said he forced her into sex and took photos of her body.
The victim said she started crying and screaming out in pain, but claimed Aispuro kissed her to muffle the screams.
Aispuro claimed the sex was consensual and said the victim hides their relationship from her parents due to their religion. The victim told investigators she did not keep the relationship a secret, but used her parents as an excuse not to have to hang out with Aispuro.
