TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – All 8,000 tickets have been sold for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, but people can still register to win other prizes and tour the home.

The Dream Home Giveaway raises money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Organizers said the funds help families through their children’s treatment, including one Arizona family.
Jamie was biking in a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on a winter day in 2018.
“I remember it exactly and got off of my bike from the cycling event and went to Bridget’s soccer game, and that was the last time I watched her run on her own two feet,” Jamie said.
Jamie did not expect her own child would soon become a St. Jude patient.
“It was not supposed to be my child. It was not supposed to be Bridget,” Jamie said.
Jamie said she knew St. Jude would provide the best care for her daughter.
“It was our saving grace. It was our opportunity to give her the best care in the world. It was the place that was going to give us hope that would save her life,” Jamie said.
Bridget today
Bridget, now a teenager, lost her leg to bone cancer and wears a prosthetic.
“I think it’s just a part of me now. It’s not any different,” Bridget said. “I was running like three months after it happened.”

Bridget loves to play volleyball and spend time with her dog.
Cost of care
Jamie said St. Jude’s support allowed her family to focus on Bridget’s recovery rather than medical bills.
“I always get choked up when I say this, but if anything, if anybody ever takes anything away from the support of St. Jude, it’s allowing these kids to be kids again and allowing them to take care of the kids the way that they should be and not what my insurance would do,” Jamie said.
The Dream Home Giveaway funds help cover treatment, food, lodging, and travel costs for families while their children are patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“We did have so many side effects. And you know, Bridget blocked out a lot of treatment. She was young,” Jamie said. “There were nights where she was in so much pain, nerve pain from amputation or vomiting, and sick from chemotherapy.”
Boxing gloves as a reminder
A pair of boxing gloves now hangs in Bridget’s room at home.
“We’d take a picture of her with her boxing gloves before every chemo treatment,” Jamie said.
The gloves are signed by the doctors and nurses who treated Bridget at St. Jude.
Dream Home open through November
The St. Jude Dream Home will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., from Sept. 26 through Nov. 15. People can register for free at the house for a chance to win a Ride and Recharge package, which includes hybrid comfort bikes and accessory packages for two.
