WHITERIVER, AZ (AZFamily) — A semi-truck hauling cheese took a grate big fall in eastern Arizona after a crash sent the shipment tumbling into a ravine.

Authorities responded Aug. 16 to reports of a semitruck and trailer that had gone off the mountainous U.S. 60 near Whiteriver, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
When troopers arrived, they found the rig face-down in a drop-off, its 40,000-pound shipment of cheese scattered across the ground below.
Investigators said the driver failed to follow a left-hand curve and instead continued straight, veering off the right side of the road. The truck plowed through the end of a guardrail, over a pile of large boulders and plunged down the steep ravine.
The driver told troopers he swerved to avoid an animal in the road, but investigators say driver fatigue may also have played a role in the crash.

It is unclear if the driver faces any charges. The crash remains under investigation.
