TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A pedestrian was killed, and another is in critical condition following a crash at East Speedway Boulevard and North Woodland Avenue in Tucson on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The Tucson Police Department said crews responded to a crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians just after 11:30 p.m.
The TPD said the two pedestrians were crossing Speedway Boulevard when they were struck by a vehicle.
One of the pedestrians, 60-year-old Johnny Rivas, was pronounced dead on the scene, and the other, a 33-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigations revealed the driver, a 44-year-old male, was travelling eastbound on Speedway in the middle lane during heavy rainfall.

Officers said the rain caused the eastbound curb lane to flood and reduce visibility.
It was determined that the driver was not impaired, and the investigation is still ongoing.
This is the second fatal pedestrian crash in Tucson on Aug. 5
