TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A man facing attempted murder charges for incidents in Tucson and Illinois has been accused of attacking corrections officers in Pima County.

As of Monday, Aug.31, Justin Teruel was being held on bonds of more than $2 million.
According to court records, the 29-year-old Teruel attacked several family members at their home in the 2000 block of East Roger Road on May 4.
For that incident, he is facing two counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of aggravated assault-temporary but substantial disfigurement, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault-serious injury, and one count of aggravated assault-domestic violence.
According to the interim complaint, Teruel had only been living with his family for two weeks when the incident happened.
Witnesses said Teruel stabbed one of the victims several times and hit them with a fire extinguisher.
He then allegedly stabbed another person and choked a third victim who tried to stop the attack.
A fourth victim went to get a gun, but Teruel allegedly attacked and choked them.

The victims said Teruel repeatedly yelled “you did this to me” and “you have to die” during the attacks. He also allegedly told them the devil made him do it.
Investigators said they found a broken kitchen knife in the home.
Just four days later, Teruel allegedly attacked two corrections officers while in the Pima County Adult Detention Complex.
For the May 8 incident, he is facing two counts of aggravated assault of a corrections officer and one count of criminal damage.
According to the interim complaint, Teruel went behind a corrections officer’s desk and destroyed two computers. When two COs tried to restrain him, Teruel allegedly hit one in the neck and pushed another into the desk. While the COs had minor scrapes and bruises, the PCSD said he also spit on them.
Teruel is also facing a felony warrant from Illinois for attempted second-degree murder. That warrant was served on Aug. 28.
