MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A man is in custody after police say he pointed a gun at a driver, then barricaded himself inside a Mesa apartment Friday afternoon.

Mesa police said officers were called around 3 p.m. for reports of a person in a vehicle pointing a gun at another driver near the U.S. 60 freeway and Val Vista Drive.
Police identified the armed suspect as 34-year-old Israel Sosa. Officers found Sosa’s vehicle and tried to stop him, but Sosa reportedly fled.
Police tracked Sosa to an apartment complex on 74th Street, west of Sossaman Road, just north of Main Street, where he was barricaded inside a unit.
Mesa and Chandler SWAT teams responded to the barricade situation, and after several hours, Sosa came out and was taken into custody, police said.

Officers asked the public to avoid the area during the barricade, but there is no longer an active threat to the area.
Charges are pending against Sosa, Mesa police said.
