PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An injured woman was safely rescued off of one of the Valley’s most popular hiking areas Friday morning.

Rescue crews from Phoenix and Tempe were called to the Hole in the Rock hiking area, near Galvin Parkway and Van Buren Street, around 8:30 a.m.
Firefighters used ladders and rope systems to reach an injured woman who hurt her leg while hiking. Crews safely got the hiker down the mountain by using a big wheel, a specialized device used to haul people down uneven or difficult trails.
Video and photos shared from the department show firefighters using a steep ladder, ropes and a stretcher to safely slide the woman off the edge of a rock.
