PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two people were found dead in a west Phoenix apartment over the weekend after loved ones reported they had not heard from a family member in days, police say.

Officers made a welfare check Saturday at an apartment complex in the area of 27th and Glenrosa avenues, just north of Indian School Road, around 2:30 p.m., according to Phoenix police. The caller told police that they were concerned after not talking to one of the victims in a while.
When officers arrived, they saw through the window that the woman appeared to be dead and entered the apartment. They later found the man dead inside the apartment.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation because the bodies were decomposed, according to police.
According to the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner, the cause of death for the two is still being determined. Police said the case is pending autopsies.

Police did not say whether the two victims were related or give their ages.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
