PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona candidate for U.S. Congress was arrested over the weekend for allegedly making threats.

David Redkey, a registered Green Party candidate for U.S. House District 3, faces multiple counts of threatening or intimidating and one count of computer tampering, according to court records.
Prosecutors said he sent threatening messages involving guns targeting a judge and an attorney, but full details about his arrest were not immediately available. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office asked the court to seal his arrest documents to protect victims’ information.
Redkey was booked into jail on Saturday, and his bond was set at $150,000, according to court records. His next court hearing is set for Thursday.
Although Redkey is registered as an Arizona Green Party candidate, a party spokesperson told Arizona’s Family last month that it actively opposes his candidacy “due to a consistent pattern of abusive behavior that had him banned from the Arizona Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of Phoenix.”
Redkey and No Labels candidate Alan Aversa participated in a remote debate on Aug. 25. Democratic incumbent Yassamin Ansari did not respond to an invitation to debate.

Redkey’s campaign says he’s a certified teacher who is “a fierce advocate against conservatorship and guardianship fraud that syphons wealth from Arizona families.”
Arizona’s Family has reached out to Redkey’s campaign for a statement on his arrest.
