PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A suspected DUI driver is in custody after a multi-car wreck Monday evening sent one person to the hospital and caused a lengthy overnight closure.

Around 8:45 p.m. Monday, four vehicles were involved in the crash near 47th Avenue and Indian School Road. Police say one woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say a 26-year-old driver, identified as Joey Lopez, was arrested for driving under the influence.
Arizona’s Family witnessed three vehicles that sustained heavy damage. Video shows a red vehicle with its windshield completely shattered and heavy damage to its driver’s side. Vehicle parts, including front bumpers, were scattered across the area.
The wreck shut down the intersection throughout the night, and it remains closed as of 8 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers are asked to avoid the intersection and use alternate routes.
