Man arrested after stabbing old Holidome Inn Hotel in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A man has been arrested on several charges following an incident at an affordable housing complex in Pima County on Thursday, May 14.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 40-year-old Javier Enrique Aguirre was booked on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault domestic violence, and burglary after he was treated for his injuries. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

The PCSD said the victim in the case has also been released from the hospital.

The PCSD said there was a stabbing at a home in the 4500 block of South Palo Verde around 6:30 p.m. on May 14.

According to a 13 News photographer, it happened at the Center of Hope Apartments, which is run by La Frontera and is located at 4554 South Palo Verde Road. To many in Tucson, it is known as the now-closed Holidome Inn Hotel.

The incident happened near, but not at, the Gospel Rescue Mission Center of Opportunity.

“We understand that the site is secured and the Pima County Sheriff is on scene,” said Lisa Chastain with the Gospel Rescue Mission. “We are praying for all involved, and we are there to assist in any way we can.”

The Center of Hope Apartments opened in 2022 and is described as a rehabilitation and conversion facility. According to several websites, the facility offers 100 affordable apartment units.
