PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix police are searching for two drivers who reportedly fled the scene of a deadly hit-and-run on Tuesday night.
Shortly before 10 p.m., Phoenix officers received reports of a pedestrian crash near 39th Avenue and McDowell Road. Officers arrived and found an unresponsive woman in the roadway. She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.
Detectives say the woman was walking along McDowell when she was struck by a tan SUV that was going westbound. Then, she was hit by a second vehicle, a white SUV, which was also heading in the same direction. Neither driver stayed at the scene, police say.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the make and model of both vehicles.
