GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A car fire led to a disturbing discovery behind a Gilbert strip mall overnight Wednesday.

Just before 12:30 a.m., Gilbert police and firefighters were called to a vehicle fire near a business complex near Higley and Williams Field roads. Once the flames were extinguished, a person was found dead inside the vehicle.
Gilbert authorities have remained at the scene throughout the night and into the morning to investigate what led up to the incident. While other details have not been released, Gilbert police say the circumstances are not suspicious.
Arizona’s Family news chopper witnessed a burnt-out blue sedan in a dirt lot behind the strip mall, and authorities in hazmat suits were seen inspecting the vehicle. A large portion of the Walgreens parking lot was also blocked off with crime scene tape.
