GOODYEAR, AZ (AZFamily) — A child is fighting for their life after a near-drowning at a West Valley home early Wednesday morning.

At 7:30 a.m., Goodyear officers responded to reports of a possible drowning at a home near Citrus and Broadway roads. Details remain limited at this time, but police confirmed a young child was found in the backyard pool and rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The child’s exact age was not disclosed, but police say they are toddler-aged. Video from Arizona’s Family news chopper showed a gate in front of the pool area of the backyard.
Investigators are at the scene working to determine what led up to the near-drowning.
