MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A Mesa grand jury has indicted a father accused of turning a break-in at the Mesa Arts Center into a family affair last month, with his 10-year-old son allegedly doing the stealing.

Jean Zintz, 31, was indicted on two felony charges of theft and burglary, and one misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a child, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced Monday.
Nearly a month after police said they also booked his 10-year-old into a juvenile facility on burglary charges, prosecutors now say the boy will not face any charges.
The indictment follows the Aug. 19 incident, when Zintz and his 10-year-old son reportedly entered the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum at the Mesa Arts Center. While inside, they took jewelry valued at over $7,000.
Prosecutors say the court set a cash bond of $40,000, and Zintz remains in custody.
What exactly happened?
Arizona’s Family previously reported that surveillance cameras captured Zintz and his son arriving at the Sirrine parking garage next to the arts center in a white 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, then walking around the property and pulling on the doors of several locked buildings, according to court documents.
At one point, the two reportedly walked out of camera view and returned carrying a piece of a totem pole cactus, court documents said. Zintz then carried the cactus back to his truck and placed it in the bed.
The pair then reportedly walked up to the locked Mesa Contemporary Arts building, which was closed while new art displays were being installed. According to court documents, Zintz aggressively pulled on a locked exterior door, breaking its locking mechanism, and the two went inside.

The son pocketed four pieces of jewelry worth a combined value of about $7,350, including a sterling silver bolo tie, a sterling silver necklace, and two bracelets. The boy also wrote his name in a gallery sign-in book and on artwork he made inside a neighboring art studio.
Zintz allegedly left a stainless-steel cup behind in that studio, which the two later returned to retrieve, police said. But as museum staff tried to call police, the two ran to their vehicle and sped off.
Investigators identified and located the two, who were visiting from Washington state, detained them, and found the stolen goods at Zintz’s parents’ home in Mesa.
Police say Zintz admitted the two were involved in the burglary and told detectives he was planning to fly to Washington later that day with the stolen goods in tow.
